Day 1

DEPART FOR OSLO

Enjoy a private car ride to the airport. Guests departing from Toronto airport are assisted with their check in. Meet your Journey Manager and fellow travelers and board your flight to Oslo.

Day 2

OSLO, NORWAY

Our local guide greets us at the airport and takes us into Oslo. Our hotel, with its Louis XVI revival style and characteristic clock tower is central to many historical gems. ‘Kvadraturen’, the ancient city, beckons your exploration. (L,D)

Day 3

TOURING OSLO

Surrounded by mountains and sea, Oslo’s high rises reveal a bustling metropolis boasting innovative architecture with pockets of quaint historic buildings and peaceful urban parks. This morning, we tour the city and discover the harbour area, downtown and take a moment in Frogner Park. This afternoon is at your leisure to explore the Scandinavian capital and indulge in Norway’s staple culinary delicacies. A favourite is peel-and-eat shrimp! (B,L,D)

Day 4

RAIL JOURNEY TO BERGEN

Today we are in for a treat as we board the train and travel ‘Over the Roof of Norway,’ to Bergen. This railroad adventure is the longest, high mountain stretch of railway in Europe and is recognized as being one of the top twenty railway experiences in the world. On arrival in Bergen, also known as the ‘gateway to the fjords’, we board the Midnatsol. (B,D)

Day 5

ÅLESUND

Awaken to Norway’s fresh sea air and wonderful picturesque views. We arrive in Ålesund this afternoon, a small fishing centre in this popular tourist region. We explore ashore to appreciate the art nouveau style of the city that was rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1904. We climb towards Fjellstua for a panoramic view of the city, mountains and ocean before visiting Waldehuset, a wooden house that miraculously avoided the flames of the city fire. (B,L,D)

Day 6

RINGVE MUSUEM & TRONDHEIM

Founded in 997 and capital of Norway during the Viking Age, Trondheim is steeped in history and culture. At the Ringve Music Museum, our local music guides demonstrate the instruments and share their knowledge about the remarkable music history. We continue our exploration to Norway’s largest medieval church, Nidaros Cathedral. The colourful houses, quaint waterways and charming cobbled streets make this town postcard perfect! (B,L,D)

Day 7
CROSSING THE ARTIC CIRCLE

Have your cameras ready today as you visit five fantastic ports. Today, we celebrate with King Neptune the crossing of the Arctic Circle and announce the winner of the Arctic Circle Competition; each passenger places a guess of what time the ship will cross the arctic circle, the winner is the one who guesses the closest time! We end the day at the quaint fishing village of Svolvær. Why not enjoy a drink in an ice glass. Skål! (B,L,D)

TROMSØ

In Tromsø, our local guide takes us to the stunning Arctic Cathedral, inspired by Northern Norwegian faith and nature. Known as the Arctic capital, Tromsø is surrounded by majestic mountains, scenic fjords and picturesque islands, making our cable car ride up Storsteinen a true highlight of the day with these impressive vistas. (B,L,D)

Day 9

BARENTS SEA & NORTH CAPE

Today we travel through the Finnmark region and experience fishing villages both old and active. We go ashore to the island of Magerøya to visit the North Cape Pavilion where we enjoy a 125° panorama film showing the spectacular landscape around the North Cape through the four seasons. We continue into the wilds for a visit of the local Sami peoples, who have traditionally been reindeer herders. (B,L,D)

Day 10

KIRKENES

Our ship arrives in Kirkenes today. Here we are further north than any part of mainland Canada! Enjoy some free time to explore this remote northern community or set off to the Russian border on an optional excursion. We depart Kirkenes to begin our southbound voyage, visiting the ports in daylight that we previously called on during the night. This afternoon we stop in Vardø. (B,L,D)

Day 11

HAMMERFEST 70° 39' 48"N

Possibly the world’s most northern town in the world, Hammerfest offers many attractions including the Museum of Reconstruction and Royal and Ancient Polar Bear Society, ‘Isbjørnklubben.’ It is also the perfect stop for a short stroll and visit to the local shops. (B,L,D)

Day 12

A UNIQUE CONCERT AND THE LOFOTEN AQUARIUM

This single day is testament to why the round trip voyage on the Midnatsol cannot be missed. The Lofoten Islands are a feast for the senses with its countless mountains, colourful green valleys, bright houses and endless rippling waters. We will tour Vesterålen, enjoy a concert in an old herring oil tank and end the day with a visit to the Lofoten Aquarium. (B,L,D)

Day 13

BREATHTAKING VISTAS

Today is one for relaxing as cross back over six ports of call and take in the spellbinding scenery. We cross back over the Arctic Circle and around lunchtime, we call on Sandnessjøen to enjoy an early afternoon stroll. The Helgeland coast has jundred of islets, fertile farmland and steep granite walls. Do not miss the ‘Seven Sisters’ peaks as well as the characteristic Torghatten, the famous mountain with a hole through it. After dinner we call on the pretty town of Rørvik. (B,L,D)

Day 14

TRONDHEIM & 'THE ATLANTIC ROAD'

In Trondheim, enjoy free time to chat with the local people, wander into the town with your Journey Manager, or enjoy the shops. We also call on Kristiansund, an ancient town situated on three islands before driving the scenic ‘Atlantic Road’. This road was chosen as ‘Norway’s Construction of the Century’ and links many small towns between Kristiansund and Molde. (B,L,D)

Day 15

EXPLORING THE CITY OF BERGEN

We disembark the Midnatsol this afternoon and transfer to our hotel, located amidst the historical buildings of Bryggen, the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The rest of the day is yours to discover this stunning coastal city as you please. This evening, dine at your leisure at the hotel restaurant. (B,L,D)

Day 16

FREE TIME IN BERGEN

Today is yours to explore the beautiful city of Bergen. Join your Journey Manager for a scenic ride on the Fløibanen, the only cable car funicular in Scandinavia, for spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, fjords and sea from the top of Fløyen. Let yourself be taken aback by the sheer beauty of this mesmerizing landscape! This evening enjoy our farewell dinner. (B,D)

We bid Norway "avskjed" (farewell), and make our way to the airport for our flight home. Enjoy our private car to your home. (B)

The "Atlantic Road"

From above, the “Atlantic Road” might look like a long ribbon, draped across the rocks and islets that connect Norway’s mainland to the island of Averøy. Drive along this stunning feat of engineering that has been called one of the most scenic drives in the world for a truly unforgettable experience. Prepare for magnificent views unlike any you’ve ever seen as you drive down the gently winding road and across bridges jutting out over the sea.

North Cape & the Sami People

On the north coast of the island of Magerøya, North Cape features a stunning plateau that suddenly drops to the sea down a 307-meter cliff. Whether you’re watching the afternoon sun reflect off the ocean or the vibrant colours of a sunset, the view from this lookout is nothing short of incredible. You’ll also have time to explore the North Cape Pavilion and view the 125° panorama film showing North Cape through the four seasons. Then, learn about the Sami people, the indigenous people who have thrived in the Finnmark region for thousands of years.
