Journey Highlights

Aboard the MS Crucevita

Renovated in 2019 and designed with the old-world charm of a sleek yacht, with sumptuous textile, leather furniture and dark wood, the MS Crucevita is one of the most elegant and impressive riverboats of Western Europe. The interior was specifically designed to offer guests maximum space: the large reception area with a fireplace, the impressive lounge, and the spacious restaurant – all this amounts to an atmosphere of exuberant yet comfortable luxury. Also updated in 2019, each upper deck cabin includes a spectacular french balcony. Gaze on the rolling scenery of Europe from the comfort of your own cabin. Privately chartered by Journeys by Van Dyke to provide an exceptional experience, the MS Crucevita riverboat is your home away from home as you explore new cultures and stunning landscapes along the rivers of Europe.

Boasting medieval islands, stunning canals, and an incredible cathedral with a 14th century astronomical clock, there is no shortage of sights to see in Strasbourg. Enjoy a walking tour through the city with Catharine, our dear friend and one of our local guides, as you become immersed in the city’s vibrant history and culture. As the seat of the European Parliament and the largest city in the region, Strasbourg’s contagious energy ensures your visit will be both exciting and memorable.

Surrounded by the lush Mosel valley, Bernkastel is a quintessential quaint German village—with a few attributes that set it apart from the rest. The distinctive town hall, or Rathaus, sits in the centre of the market square and is encircled by charming half-timbred houses. Find the medieval arm rings, which are similar to stocks, for a truly unique photo opportunity. Finish your tour of the village of Bernkastel with a relaxing wine tasting with good friends at their generations-old family vineyard.

Distinguished by the majestic spires of Kölner Dom, the city of Cologne is full of delights waiting to be experienced. Learn about life in Cologne from our famous local guides while exploring all the city has to offer. Your tour will take you through Roman ruins, into breathtaking cathedrals, and around quaint squares. With renowned attractions and hidden wonders to discover, Cologne’s unique atmosphere will draw you in as you get to know the rich culture of this ancient city.

Furka Cogwheel Steam Railway (Optional Extension)

Passing through some of the most spectacular vistas in Switzerland, the Furka Cogwheel Steam Railway is much more than a mode of transportation—it is an experience. The heritage railway was originally part of the main line of the Glacier Express and is now largely run by volunteers. Board the historic steam locomotive at Realp and travel through breathtaking mountain panoramas to Oberwald for lunch. While you eat, look forward to again drinking in the snow-capped peaks and crossing enchanting bridges on the return journey.
